Malaysia Smart Cities Alliance Association (MSCA) which was represented by the Chairman, Dr Raslan Ahmad has participated in the first National Standard Committee Meeting for 2022 as one of the Committee Members on Smart City (NSC 27) which was chaired by PLANMalaysia.
The meeting was chaired by YBrs TPr. Dr. Alias Ramli, Director General of PLANMalaysia, and other meeting members from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), MIMOS Berhad, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Public Works Department (JKR), National Water Service Commission (SPAN), Energy Commission (ST), Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (REDHA), Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) and Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC). Previously the Technical Committee TC/D/29 was upgraded to National Standards Committee on Smart City or NSC 27 with approval by the Malaysian Standards and Accreditation Council Meeting (MSDAM).
The NSC 27 has set up the goals that are in line with the KPKT’s direction as the leader of the smart city agenda in achieving a Smart Nation in 2040 as targeted by the Fourth National Physical Plan (RFN4). Under NSC 27, consists of two technical committees including Technical Committee TC/SC 1 for Smart City Indicator and Technical Committee TC/SC 2 for Smart City on ICT Infrastructure.
Currently, under TC/SC 1, the formulation of Malaysia Standard Smart City Indicator had already been developed under PLANMalaysia and received Minister approval on 9 December 2021. This Malaysia Standard Smart City Indicator is developed based on ISO37122 and is to be localised for Malaysian usage. As for the TC/SC 2, the committee is developing a document on the Smart City Infrastructure Framework for ICT Standard.
