Municipal Finance Training, 27 – 29 March 2019

The Municipal Finance Training kicked off on 27 until 29 March 2019 which the opening ceremony on 27 March 2019 was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Dr. Mary Wong Lai Lin, Deputy Secretary General of Policy, Ministry of Housing and Local Government. The training program was co-organised by MIGHT and UNIDO-led Municipal Finance training for Malaysian cities, drawing material and experts from the World Bank City Creditworthiness Academy.

The training has provided participants with a clear framework and practical options to help cities access capital markets. The training also focused on identifying and/or developing concrete opportunities for private capital financing. The Academy has covered the latest developments in the strategic use of capital budgeting frameworks and tools, land value capture, as well as debt and PPP project financing instruments.

The training program was conducted successfully and all the participants which involves of municipalities and finance members from government and industry, has took active part in all the three days of the training.  At the end of training, there were evaluation forms given to the participants, and they were required to share some feedback and comment about the training. The trainers also expressed their closing remarks and reiterated the importance of the training for the participants in their scope of work and their readiness for applying the learnt concepts in their assigned tasks. Certificates of completion were distributed among the participants at the end
