Renewable energy to power Cyberjaya soon

December 10, 2022 0 Comments

PETALING JAYA: Cyberjaya, the city that was first conceived in the late 1990s as a key component of Malaysia’s Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), will soon be largely powered by renewable energy.

Worldwide Holdings Bhd (WWH), a subsidiary of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS), will collaborate with oil and gas player Dynac Sdn Bhd to develop a large-scale solar park that will blend in with the existing landscape and natural surroundings.

Group CEO of WWH Norazlina Zakaria said that with Asean’s digital economy on track to rise to RM4.5 trillion by 2030 and the region’s emergence as an innovation powerhouse, the two companies’ collaboration will help to strengthen Selangor’s digital roadmap.

Dynac group CEO Jasman Bongkek said his company and WWH share a common interest in making Cyberjaya the nucleus of development for the MSC and a competitive and attractive location for ICT players, locally and globally.

The project, expected to be completed by the middle of 2024, will bolster Cyberjaya’s growth as a globally recognised smart city and digital economy hub on par with the rest of Asean.
