The Smart City Forum: Teach-In and Hands-On Session for Malaysia Smart City Rating 2026 marked a significant milestone in advancing Malaysia’s urban development agenda. The forum brought together over 200 participants from 86 Local Authorities (PBTs) across Malaysia, many of whom are aiming to achieve Level 1 (Early Adopter) and Level 2 (Developing) under the national smart city framework.

Led by PLANMalaysia (Department of Town and Country Planning), the initiative served not only as a forum but also as a strategic platform to accelerate the implementation of smart city initiatives at the local level, while strengthening the nation’s digital ecosystem.

MIGHT, together with six MSCA technology providers—ITMax, Sonicboom, SCS, CRE8IOT, Vectolabs, and MAP2U—were invited to share strategic insights and technology solutions to support the adoption of smart technologies among local authorities.

The forum successfully fostered meaningful dialogue between local authorities and industry players, enhanced clarity and transparency in smart technology procurement processes, and encouraged the development of locally-driven innovations tailored to Malaysia’s context.
